Does Moodle have an anti-plagiarism plugin? If so, how do I use it for my courses?

Answer

Our version of Moodle uses the Turn-It-In Plugin to generate similarity reports for assignment submissions. Once enabled it will automatically generate similarity reports based on your chosen settings.

How to Configure the Plugin:

1. In the My courses page Turn editing on

2. Click on Add an activity or resource

3. Click on the Assignment icon

4. You can enable the Turnitin Integrity plugin settings and select other options you want

How to view Similarity reports and what the percentages mean:

  1. Click on View all submissions for the assignment
  2. On the right of your screen, you will see percentages under the student's files. If a queued or pending status is shown then the similarity report is still generating. Once the report has been created, Click on the percentage to open the similarity report.
  3. The higher percentages mean the submission appears to be more plagiarized. Please note cited sources have a high chance of creating false positives.
