How do I allow students to view their Moodle quiz grades in the gradebook?
Answer
Quiz grades are not visible to students unless each quiz is configured to show students their points (grades).
This can be enabled by setting an End Date for the quiz and enabling the Points option that is found in the quiz settings. The following steps are how to enable these settings:
1. Navigate to your course's page. The settings that will need to be changed are not found in the course's gradebook setup.
2. Select the edit options drop down menu located to the right of your quiz and choose Edit Settings
3. Scroll down to the Timing category within the quiz settings
4. Locate the option named Close the Quiz which determines when students will no longer be able to submit attempts and click on the checkbox next to the word enable. A check mark will appear in the box if it has been enabled.
5. Once enabled, set the end date for the quiz
6. Once the end date has been configured, scroll down and select the Review Options category. Review options allow you to configure when grades will be available to students and if the quizzes show the correct answers. The options titled "After the quiz is closed" will only be available if the close date has been configured which was completed during step 5.
7. Select All seven of the options under the "After the quiz is closed" subcategory. The option called Points allows students to see their quiz grades within the gradebook. The other subcategories can be configured in a similar way unless you do not want students to see the correct answers until the quiz is closed for all students.
8. Scroll down to the bottom of the settings page and click either of the Save options. After following the steps above, your students will be able to view their quiz grades. Grades that are currently not affecting the course grade calculations will appear greyed out.
Additional Troubleshooting steps:
If quizzes still remain hidden, then the quiz itself is likely Locked within gradebook setup.
To check if the quiz was accidently locked, follow the directions below:
1. Navigate to the Gradebook Setup menu for the full course
2. Select the Edit bound found to the right of the quiz
3. Within the Grade Item category ensure the checkbox titled locked is unchecked. Press Save if any changes
